Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Dubrovnik, Croatia

Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free to start exploring Dubrovnik. Tonight, meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers.

Day 2: Dubrovnik

The Included sightseeing today is a great introduction to one of the most fascinating cities of the Eastern Mediterranean. Dubrovnik is the best-preserved Croatian medieval city. Visit the FRANCISCAN MONASTERY and the RECTOR’S PALACE, where the Local Guide will give you a full commentary, including the history of this beautifully preserved medieval architectural wonder. Day 3: Dubrovnik - Kotor, Montenegro - Budva

Leave Croatia today and start discovering the staggering beauty of Montenegro. Enjoy a spectacular scenic drive along the bay of Kotor, before stopping to visit the old town. Wedged between brooding mountains and a corner of the shimmering bay, atmospheric Kotor is the perfect setting for an ancient port city. Rich in Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage, the town is listed as a UNESCO World Natural and Historical Heritage Site. Overnight in the resort area of Budva.

Day 4: Budva - Shkodra, Albania - Tirana

Today we drive south along the Montenegrin coast all the way to the Albanian border. Turning inland, discover Shkodra, the traditional center of the Gheg cultural region, one of the oldest cities in Europe and arguably the most attractive urban center in Albania. The ancient Rozafa Fortress has stunning views over Lake Shkodra, while the pastel-painted buildings in the Old Town have a distinct Italian influence. We continue to Tirana, the capital of Albania, to discover its highlights on the included city sightseeing tour with a Local Guide.

Day 5: Tirana

A whole day to discover Tirana on your own, or to join an optional excursion to the medieval citadel of Kruja, with the Scanderbeg castle, ethnographic museum, and the colorful local bazaar. Scanderbeg was a nobleman and military commander who fought the Ottoman empire and ranks high in that military history, as the most persistent opponent of the Ottoman Empire in its heyday. He is now considered Albania’s national hero.

Day 6: Tirana - Durres - Overnight Ferry

Today, visit the port town of Durres before boarding on the overnight ferry to Bari, which will depart in the evening.

Day 7: Bari, Italy

This morning disembark in Apulia, one of the most beautiful regions of southern Italy. Take advantage of the day by discovering the charming city of Bari on the included guided tour. The old city centre, Barivecchia (Old Bari) is a maze of alleys built on a promotory between two harbors. In its middle you’ll find St Nicholas Basilica, founded in the XI century, surrounded by the typical picturesque narrow streets.

Day 8: Bari. Excursion to Alberobello

Apulia is a region with plenty to offer. It is famous for its ancient history, beautiful beaches, excellent food and wines, and its unique architectural styles. On today’s included excursion to Alberobello, a charming hamlet listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list, see the TRULLI, the unique beehive shaped, dry-stone buildings with conical roofs resembling gnome hats.

Day 9: Bari - Sorrento Area

Making our way across the Apulia, Basilicata and Campania regions to Sorrento, we stop at an OLIVE OIL FACTORY to discover how this healthy ingredient of Mediterranean cuisine is made, and to learn about its quality. Tonight, sign up for an optional traditional Sorrentine dinner made with the seasonal delicacies of this area.

Day 10: Sorrento Area - Rome

Spend the morning in the picturesque town of Sorrento and take in the beautiful views and the lively street scenes in the town center. In the afternoon, travel to Rome, where you will have free time to do some last-minute shopping, people watch, or to take an evening optional excursion with dinner.
